KlotzShows is a gallery dedicated to contemporary art, owned and managed by German art collector Robert Klotz. Living in Brussels for almost thirty years, Robert visited the Rivoli art galleries from their very beginning in 2008. He was immediately attracted by the vibrant yet steadily growing community of artists and galleries. The next step was only a matter of time...
Since September 2021, KlotzShows presents five to six curated art exhibitions per year in his self-designed white space, stretching from the very heart of the Rivoli building towards the streetside with a large window display. The gallery provides an attractive platform for contemporary artists from all parts of Belgium and from many other European countries, e.g. Austria, Croatia, France, Germany, Hungary, Lithuania, Netherlands, Switzerland, UK, and even from Canada to Brazil. Many of them have been shown for the first time in Brussels.
Solo or duo shows entirely selected and curated by Robert are the most common setup, but externally curated group shows with up to fifteen artists have already been presented as well. The exhibited artists work with a wide range of media, such as painting, drawing, print, sculpture, photography and video, among others.
While having a special focus on geometric abstraction, as well as minimal, concrete and kinetic art, the gallery program also showcases connections with graphic design, multimedia and performance art. Occasionally, more historic positions are being presented, e.g. rare multiples by Joseph Beuys or the holistic design work of Otl Aicher.
Since its inception, KlotzShows has gained good public visibility, through repeated coverage by the Belgian and French press (MAD Le Soir, Le Figaro, Les Echos) and its participation in art fairs and other events (Fêtes de la Saint-Martin 2023, ST-ART Strasbourg 2024, PhotoBrussels Festival 2025, LEAF Brussels 2025). More of them are being envisaged for this and next year.
