Clara Cousineau
Born in Quebec, Canada, in 1994, Clara Cousineau lives and works in Montreal. Holder of a
bachelor's degree in visual arts from Concordia University, she won the national prize of the
BMO 1st Artwork competition! in 2018. Her work has been presented in several galleries and
artist-run centres in Canada in Montreal, Quebec City and Toronto, as well as in Brussels and
Paris. Her works are part of the collections of the city of Laval and Claridge in Montreal as well
as the Nobel collection in Zurich.
Through a multidisciplinary artistic practice, Clara proposes a work where the perception of
mediums merges. She explores its limits and at the same time its completeness. The domestic
environment and the symbolic charge of the familiar objects that compose it are at the center of
her concerns, as is the body entering in close relationship with this environment. Through
games of camouflage and the exchange of roles between the constituent elements of her
creations, a constant back and forth between 2D and 3D blurs the viewer's interpretation.
