Peter Puklus
Peter Puklus, born 1980 in Cluj-Napoca (Romania), lives and works in Budapest. He studied photography at Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME) and media design at École Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle (ENSCI) in Paris. His work has been widely shown in Hungary and internationally for almost 20 years. He is recurring lecturer and workshop leader in institutions such as MOME Budapest, ÉCAL Lausanne, CEPV Vevey, HSLU Luzern, HfBK Hamburg, Bauhaus University Dessau, FAMU and UMPRUM Prague.
While the essence of his works always revolves around the photographic perspective, he has recently ventured into unexplored territories beyond the confines of the wooden frame. His recent projects encompass sculptures, objects, paintings, installations, drawings, and videos. Storytelling plays a pivotal role, whether presented in gallery spaces or in the form of photo-books. Peter skillfully merges diverse genres and media, establishing meaningful connections between them.
His project ‘The Hero Mother–How to build a house,’ was awarded the Grand Prix Images Vevey 2017-2018. Exhibitions, artist talks, videos and workshops for this project include solo exhibitions under the same title at Spazio Labo’ Bologna, KlotzShows Bruxelles, Glassyard Gallery Budapest, Mediterranean Museum Gibellina, and Espace Images Vevey. It was published as an artist book under the same title in collaboration with Witty Books and Image Vevey in 2021. A preview of his follow-up project “The Hero Father” was presented at the PhotoBrussels Festival in early 2025.
