POINT CLOUDS + LIGHT BEAMS
MINIMAL AND KINETIC ARTWORKS BY
GERALDINE WILCKE & SASCHA NORDMEYER
This exhibition brings together, for the first time, these two Franco-German artists, whose creative practices complement each other perfectly. Using different media and techniques, their approaches are rooted in optical and kinetic art. The visual effects of their works in paper, plexiglass or photography create a gap between the real and the imaginary, which is even enhanced as the viewer moves in front of the piece.
Géraldine Wilcke has been conducting research into architecture and our perception of reality for several years. Through photography, sculpture and installation, she explores how light sculpts
volumes, reveals invisible spaces and transforms our relationship with places. The artist follows the shadows as she wanders, using her camera as an extension of her gaze and her memory.
The shadow thus becomes a material, no longer merely a consequence of light but an active form, structuring space and producing new visual realities. The contrast between appearance and
disappearance, visibility and obliteration, presence and absence, lies at the heart of her work. Hermore recent installations extend this exploration by integrating architecture into the creative
process. These works are conceived in direct relation to the spaces that host them, generating spatial self-reflexivity broadening our perception of the photographs.
Born in Bremen in 1980, Géraldine lives and works in Strasbourg. After studying at Marc Bloch Faculty of Fine Arts in Strasbourg, she enrolled at Haute École des Arts du Rhin in Mulhouse, where she obtained a national higher diploma in visual arts and a certificate of aptitude for teaching art. As an artist, she collaborates with several galleries across Europe. She has been invited on several occasions to the Salon des Réalités Nouvelles in Paris with a recent exhibition in China. In 2025, she was selected for the Biennale de l’Image Tangible, with a highly acclaimed group exhibition at Espace Niemeyer in Paris.
Sascha Nordmeyer explores light, reflection and shadow, as well as materiality, in the tradition of the ZERO movement. The artist primarily uses white paper, which he reimagines as a medium.
Using cutting data generated by software, he creates thoughtfully composed cut-outs that favour strict geometric forms and serial structures, whilst evoking a sense of movement that is never fully graspable. He made his artistic breakthrough with the ‘Espace-Temps’ series. In these highly musical works, the cut-out lines follow circular and oval shapes reminiscent of propellers. A small remaining support allows him to break apart the perforated forms and fold them in multiple ways. Constantly evolving rhythms, movements, vibrations and tensions are triggered. Each piece is composed of hundreds, or even thousands, of embossed ‘micro-reflectors’, programmed prior to printing and then shaped by hand into the desired three-dimensional form.
Born in 1977, Sascha lives and works in Reims. After studying at École Supérieure d’Art et de Design and gaining professional experience in luxury design, he launched his own artistic creations, which have often been exhibited, for example at MoMA in 2011. He also applies his technique to monumental installations, e.g. at Ryosoku-in Temple during Kyoto’s Nuit Blanche in 2018. He recently won the PRISME international competition organised by Reims University Hospital for a sculpture paying tribute to organ donors. Three five-metre-high steel sails will symbolise hope andlife, with thousands of ‘micro-reflectors’ running across the steel surface, thereby creating an open space for encounter, transparency and reflection.
We are delighted to be able to present these two distinctive yet complementary artists, who invite us to contemplate their point clouds and light beams.
